Keying

Keying

When new locking hardware is installed, the lock must be keyed to a unique key.  This process is called keying.

Re-Keying

Re-Keying a lock means changing the working key of the lock to a different key, without replacing the lock itself.  This process aids in replacing all previous keys that were issued.  When keys are lost, it may be necessary to rekey the lock to prevent unauthorized access.
